Symbols and Meaning Behind the Brand
The Story of the Eye
It was one of the first classes during my Spiritual Coach Training, when we started to explore questions such as, "What is spirituality?," & "What does it mean to different people?"  After a short lecture, our small class was paired off and instructed to tell each other about the times in our lives that we defined as 'spiritual milestones.' The process was very enlightening, hearing about all the different ways that people relate to spirituality in so many unique ways.

But it was the next meditation that our instructor led us through, that really had a profound effect on us in facilitating a new connection with our spiritual selves. After grounding into the present moment, setting the intention to connect to our soul, & clearing our thoughts, the question asked was,

"If you could imagine your Soul,
what does it look like?"

At first, this was a little startling... My initial thoughts were, "What does my soul look like?...That's weird.. I've never ever considered my soul to look like anything!.."
Our instructor, having done this exercise countless times, gracefully guided us to relax into the question and to allow ourselves to be open to whatever images, thoughts, colors, feelings or sensations came up. There was no right answer, she reminded us.

And as I loosened my grip of control and anxiety about answering the question correctly or perfectly, I saw a sparkly rainbow holographic energy blob with an eye at the center. It was bubbly and effervescent, light and joyful, soft and soothing, yet exciting and vivid. And I saw it in the valley of my 'happy place,' a lush meadow near a stream at golden hour. It felt so good to see my soul's essence intermingle with the place in my mind that I would always go to for a break from reality.

As the meditation came to an end, we came back to our spaces inspired and eager to share. We were then asked to channel our experiences into a drawing for homework. The image I saw in the meditation inspired the illustration below as well as the aesthetic for my branding. And so I knew I wanted to create a whimsical and beautiful space that would inspire others to look deeply into the beauty of their own soul at Mystic Mirror Muse.

The Meaning of the Butterfly
Mystic Mirror Muse Logo
“Break free of your cocoon and give yourself the freedom to fly.”

Okay I admit, it’s cliché… a butterfly for transformation? Hardly groundbreaking.

But the message is most clear when it's simple. The life of a butterfly beautifully illustrates the healing process.

We grow as a caterpillar, then find ourselves in times of darkness that require a different kind of growth. Through the struggle of enduring the cocoon and growing our wings, we emerge as the butterfly, able to fly freely and see life from new heights.

We admire the butterfly for its effortless grace, fluttering about on a sunny day, but how often do we choose to identify with the caterpillar in the cocoon?

The butterfly in our branding is not just about elevating the beauty of being transformed into the butterfly.
It's about celebrating and exploring the dark journey the caterpillar endured that led to the powerful transformation. It's about holding a safe space for you to grow your wings until you're ready to fly.

I invite you to explore where you are in your journey. Are you in a caterpillar or butterfly phase?
